Can't wait!!

I thought I was lining up this building at the end of St Kilda Pier all symmetrically, apparently not..

Ahh.. Melbourne.. doing your best Auckland impression.. not buying it though, you're so much cooler!

And lastly, some beautiful stock I brought at another great market day, they smell like my childhood!

I've seen the sea!

oh so arty

Yeah.. so I've been taking some photos.. these came about as I was already taking ridiculous amounts of images of brick walls (who knew that brick buildings excite me as much as they do?!) and then on Saturday, when overcome with happiness in the sun and the feeling that spring is near I took a bunch of images of all the flowers I walked past and thought hey, why not whack the two together and get a bit contrast-y.

Ta-da.

Rose Street

Rose Street was a super good time today, I finally got onto getting a sheet to put on my stall - what a difference that made! Also brought the lovely white porcelain plates you see here, I stupidly forgot my cute banner though, and I reeally need to sort out my packaging..this week!

Lunch Number One.

Lunch Number Two. Yes, I was ravenously hungry and the cafe at the market makes the best food, so hard to resist..

Messy night last night!

Market Day

I wandered down to the produce market just down the road from the flat this morning.. brought a whole bunch of cheap but great quality fruit and veges - so much fun! These daffodils made me smile - must be almost spring time!

Lunch. Made from entirely market brought ingredients.. yum!

New lightbulbs with cosies..

I had this sudden epiphany last night while knitting that I knit all my unusable (and in this case highly flammable) objects in pastels because they are the antithesis of all the baby booties that are knitted in exactly these shades.. I don't think I've ever consciously thought about this or written it down.

all in a day's worth!

Best zine ever!

Dawn Tan has compiled a beautiful zine following all the objects/food items that make up a (typical?) day for her, along with the time they were used. An intimate view of a very talented lady.

I'm still undecided on whether I love or hate the detailing on the Federation Square buildings (left) however I do love the inflatable version in the entrance to the NGV, Ian Potter Centre (right)

Sticky Success! I finally found the famous Melbourne zine store that has been known to stock Cardboard Box today.. it's such a fantastic wee shop. It's very beautifully done with great wooden shelving and a table in the middle with three typewriters in mint condition ready to use. I brought up large on zines but I foresee myself going back again and again to increase my collection. I'll post about today's purchases soon..

Sticky is down in Degraves Subway which has all these fantastic lit alcoves along the tiled walls showcasing some severely awesome art, curated by the Platform Artists Group Inc. That rather brutal trophy was one of my faves, some others are pictured here below..

Tres cool!

'Salvos' = Australian for Salvation Army.. brought some great crockery and a brown leather handbag at this one on Victoria Street.

Flinders Street Station, reminiscent of the ferry building in Auckland, only 6 times bigger.

My bank account has a severe dent in it after a days worth of shopping, helped along by the $40 I spent on tea at Tea Too.. this place is amazing, I defy anyone to enter and not come out laden with tea! It's so beautifully laid out, with more tea than I ever knew existed and there's always freshly brewed pots of fancy tea to sample to make it just that bit more tempting.. as if I needed it!

The third in my collection of rings - swapped for a tampon brooch at Rose Street yesterday.. it's made out of the end of a knife/fork/spoon. Love it!

Rose Street

Had my first stall at Rose Street today - lovely vibe, didn't sell much but everyone was friendly (despite my complete exhaustion and therefore probably sullen expression!) and I got heaps of chuckles over the tampons and tassels!
As you can see I was a bit unorganised with the whole covering of the table thing so onto my to do list pops - 1) buy a big checked/paisley sheet 2) buy some cute crockery for display purposes 3) buy some sweet bags to package the merch - then I'll be sorted! However as a first go I did quite like the minimal look of my stall - the cutesy colours on the exposed brickwork and wooden tables..

Two bad-ass rings I brought today at the Rose Street Artist's Markets! The silver one came in an awesome black velvet pouch..
