Yup, as awfully cheesy and a bit weird as it is I spent part of the beautiful, sunny Sunday a week ago photographing flowers at the cemetery.. Strangely relaxing..

I think the fake ones were my favourites..

On a side note, I am still not used to possums roaming free in parks in the city! They are such crazy little, or actually not so little animals..
ALSO, in things that don't happen across the Tasman where I'm from, who knew Australians called road cones (named because they are cone-shaped and placed on the road, logical yes?) witches hats? Certainly not me, and certainly not something I needed to find out while driving out catering for work and being told to follow them and actually thinking I was looking for black witches hats!!

Yesterday we went to see what is quite possibly one of the best pieces of performance art ever! Titled Dachshund U.N  it involved 47 sausage dogs in the role of U.N. delegates meeting for the Commission on Human Rights.

This little guy led the proceedings..

While the delegates were involved in what was clearly a very important discussion..

The piece is the work of artist Bennett Miller and is on as part of the Next Wave Festival. The debate will be staged again next Saturday and the one after at 2pm next to the Exhibition Building. Not only is it SUPER CUTE but, much like M.I.A's newest video clip Born Free I feel it makes a point that has been made many times before but that is all the more potent because of the humour that's involved.

Anyone lucky enough (like me!) to be anywhere in the city on Saturday afternoon would have probably been awed by the hundreds of zombies filing past them as part of the annual Zombie Shuffle.. it was such an awesome site! I have to admit, while it's a pretty great idea, I was surprised how many people got into it, dressed up and shuffled through the city together.. Clearly one of those moments when I forgot I wasn't in Auckland anymore.. This pic was stolen from Jonathan White's facebook, check out more great pics here.
