Free Julian Assange/Wikileaks Protest

The amazing Adam Bandt speaking

For my first protest this was certainly an amazing one to be involved in. There was a real sense of community in that we were in Assange's own city and electorate, even though there were plenty of policemen around, some even on horses it never got out of control, there was just an overwhelming general feeling of injustice and the need to make ourselves heard. The speakers were fantastic, each touching on a slightly different angle, Adam Bandt in particular spoke well, about the basic human rights of Assange's that have been violated which coming from someone in his position was pretty hard to ignore. A lady from the Journalists Union (I think) spoke about how if what Assange has done is a crime then every editor of every paper is guilty too and finally a young guy who spoke on the issues and laws surrounding internet censorship. The best line of the day however would have to go to the MC - 'Let's show Britain we're not f***ing convicts anymore' - classic.

Having just finished the slice of lemon meringue this afternoon and the custard tart yesterday my GIANT KNITTED CAKES project is complete! Well, almost, I still have to find some lovely big ceramic plates to place them on for the High Tea exhibition in less than a month.. eek!

My free-styled floral hair

Steph's sweet bow-tie

I had the pleasure of attending yet another beautiful wedding over the weekend.. it was just such a happy time, Emma and AJ are just quite honestly the best couple ever, so much laughter, so many tears! Steph and I rocked up looking obviously bangin'.

Mad Photography Skillz, 2001

Skyline, Hong Kong

Skyline, Hong Kong

Embarrassing as this is, these are my photos from LA, London and Hong Kong! It's actually just hilarious because I used to do this all the time, without even realising.. 9 years and cameras with long lens that make this effect impossible have worked wonders for my photographic abilities, oh and that degree I have probably helped too..

One of the perks of going through ALL MY STUFF back in New Zealand was finding these photos from photography in high school.. I was so proud of these photos, probably the proudest of anything I did at high school actually!
I was SUCH a fat baby!

Having just booked flights to the ridiculously idyllic looking/sounding Tasmania I thought I'd celebrate by using my mad Photoshop skills to create these images of me ACTUALLY IN TASMANIA, obviously having a great time. Can't wait.

original images taken from here.

Ok, first up a disclaimer - yes, I've been spending all potential making time trawling through fashion blogs which feels way too voyeuristic for my liking but I love it..

I came home from work desperately needing to nap but two slightly weird things have happened which are making it kind of hard to sleep - firstly the $1,656 worth of tax return I just discovered in my bank account (I love Australia!) and then as I'm looking through Rumi Neely's entire back catalogue of posts I discover this. Her wearing a 'vintage dress' that I actually own too! While I would refer to it as more of a jumper it's a bit crazy that something I got off the lovely Clara in her clearing out the wardrobe phase would also be owned by someone on the other side of the world.

I hate that I've written so much about practically nothing but there you go.. I'm weirded out.

Too cute! My housemate bought me an awesome pattern book for 'fast food' yesterday, can't wait to give everything else in it a go.. I have just the hair clip to glue this onto in the meantime though..
I'm working on these for a certain friend of mine who's opening a certain shop.. that I can't wait to have a perve at when I'm back in that certain city I'm from in late October!! I'm really enjoying the pastels too..

Shaping up nicely..

Here is my large scale donut, photographed today in Jeremy's mouth, thanks!

I am finally learning to crochet.. (thanks Mel!) It is so incredibly different to knitting, my left hand is aching in muscles I didn't even know I had, but it will all be worth it when my coral neckpiece/vest is complete.. And when all the wool I bought today for 80c a ball is crocheted into all manner of awesome things..

Thursday, September 16, 2010

I just emailed these two images off to Kim.. I'm aiming for 6 cakes, 6 different biters.. thanks so far to Luci and Frank!

Tuesday, September 14, 2010

I accidentally made the donut noticeably larger than the other cakes so there was nothing for it but to put it for sale at my work.. Which is fine by me!

Monday, September 13, 2010

I've actually been knitting recently! Hoorah! These are the first two completed large scale cakes I'm knitting for an exhibition I'm in in December - High Tea. I'm also working on a donut, lemon meringue slice and custard tart.. Fun!

Double Denim Dance-Off! (was awesome)

Wednesday, August 11, 2010

I have been so unproductive recently, the only thing I've achieved this last week is this (admittedly awesome) banner for some returning housemates of mine..

I reeeeeeeeeeally love these hand embroidered digital prints (on calico) by Laura McKellar. I stole these pics from her website/store, check them out!

Sunny

This image by Veronica Kent was one of the standout pieces for me at the Melbourne Art Fair yesterday. It was also really exciting to see Artspace, one of my favourite Auckland galleries represented.. they had some great video pieces.

How beautiful was my Grandma? I love that these were all taken in the same spot.. and of course I pretty much want that knitted dress she's wearing, those pompoms! And that hair!

Hurrah! I've officially been in Melbourne for a year!!

Monday, July 26, 2010

I hope you don't mind that I'm posting this Luci but this just has to be the worst idea I've ever had for a photo! 'Put your head down in the folage (deliberately mis-pronounced) and look up at me' actually pushing her head down and turning it for her - never again!

This one's a bit better but not by much..

And I really like this one.

All taken at Open House yesterday, which was the most educational experience I've had in while!

Tourist Destination - my Bedroom

crocheted blanket

Teddy Bears Picnic and 'real Hawaiian flowers made by a special process into objects of art'

What Luci described as the wardrobe of an old lady (I do have a lot of florals)

Fireplace/Storage space/Bookshelf

My friend Michael Pham took these pics last night, something I've been wanting to do for a while but have never quite got round to.. thanks man!! My fave is definitely of my blanket, crocheted by my grandma with my name conscientiously sewn on by my mother, undoubtedly to ward off blanket thieves at school camps or something!
