Hair Cross-stitch
Jasmine
Rachel
Anne
Michelle
Heather
I completed this body of work about two years ago. They're all hairs from aunties and cousins of mine.. each piece involves one strand of hair, stitched to as far as I could go.
I love them.

I'm pretty proud of my first foray into cross-stitch in what must be about 15 years, apart from the hair cross-stitches I did a couple of years ago, man those were cool, I need to get back into them.. My head malts like a cat and dog combined so I should have no trouble sourcing the material, I'll just give my hair a good, and definitely overdue brush.
I am dreaming really vividly at the moment, I know that has nothing to do with cross-stitch but it's starting to freak me out.
Happy Birthday Luci!!

I spent some time with my scanner a few days ago, we don't really hang out much anymore so I had a lot to get through.. first up - this AMAZING dress by Emma Churchill in the latest issue of NO makes me very happy..
This is a beautiful drawing by Dawn Tan that I bought a while ago but still need to get framed. I think I bought it subconsciously thinking about how I have a dress like that and sometimes my face goes pink, unfortunately not in neat circles though, more like an all over spread.
This polaroid is stuck to my bedside table/filing cabinet, my sis Lizzy on the left and cousin Jasmine on the right. I love them.

My very dear (are we still best even though I'm over the Tasman? I hope so) friend Sarah is a-coming to Melbourne!! And then my awesome sister is moving here for a while.. I am so excited I'm not excited if that makes any sense! Like, if I think about it too much I feel like I might explode! I'm making up for it by talking about Auckland, New Zealand, my family and my friends back there any opportunity I get, very boring for everyone around me I'm sure.
This pic was stolen from Sarah's blog, it's from when she was last here.. too long ago.
When I finished uni, my graduating exhibition images were featured in frankie, a lovely lady called Laura purchased three of them, and has now just had them auctioned them off in an Art and Object 'Important Photographs' auction. I have mixed feelings about this, or rather I don't really know what to think when images of mine are in any context alongside the likes of Anne Noble, Marti Freidlander, Fiona Pardington and Ans Westra - all amazing and well known photographers from New Zealand. Also, I'm blown away by someone buying my work for between $3000-$5000! Who is this clearly crazy (in an awesome way) person? Check out the catalogue here.
I am now, after 3 months of not completing all that much art-wise, feeling rather inspired to actually start doing things, knitting things, and learning to crochet. This image of a beautiful tapestry on velour by my friend Clara has also helped in giving me an idea for what to do with the bag of shoulder pads I've been collecting for quite some time... Maybe it's also the beautifully crisp weather Melbourne has going on at the moment, or maybe it's just that being lazy is really not that cool, but I am officially going to start being productive. As of now.
